ABMPD

The Burundian Association for a Drug-Free and Peaceful World (ABMPD) actively works toward the socio-economic reintegration of prisoners and former detainees, with the aim of promoting self-reliance, social inclusion, and the prevention of reoffending.

Within the framework of the project funded by the European Union, implemented through the Consortium of SAD, Street Child and Bibliothèques Sans Frontières, ABMPD uses the Ideas Cube, an innovative educational and cultural tool provided by Bibliothèques Sans Frontières, as a key instrument for reintegration activities.

Through the Ideas Cube, ABMPD implements a range of capacity-building and empowerment activities for prisoners and people transitioning from the prison system, including:

access to educational, cultural, and digital resources (books, tablets, and learning materials);

literacy, civic education, and personal development sessions;

life skills training, basic entrepreneurship, and preparation for socio-economic reintegration;

psychosocial support and safe discussion spaces, fostering self-confidence and resilience.

These interventions aim to prepare beneficiaries for successful reintegration into society by equipping them with practical skills, strengthening their life plans, and supporting their active participation in socio-economic life after release.

Through this integrated approach, ABMPD contributes to the promotion of human dignity, social cohesion, and peace, while supporting national and European efforts toward inclusive development and the protection of vulnerable populations.
