ABMPD

The Burundian Association for a Drug-Free World (ABMPD) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting health, peace, and community well-being while combating drug use and trafficking. We primarily work with vulnerable populations, including youth, women, children on the move, people living with HIV, drug users, sex workers, as well as individuals in detention and former prisoners.

Our work focuses on several key areas:

Community Health and Prevention: raising awareness about communicable diseases, including hepatitis, HIV, and COVID-19, promoting hygiene and sanitation, and preventing epidemics and pandemics.

Drug Prevention and Harm Reduction: preventing drug use, supporting users to access healthcare, and assisting them in social reintegration.

Protection of Vulnerable Populations: child protection, legal assistance, and combating gender-based violence and human trafficking.

Support for People in Detention and Reintegration of Former Prisoners: improving living conditions for inmates, preparing them for social reintegration, and supporting former prisoners in returning to professional and social life through training and personalized follow-up.

Education and Capacity Building: community awareness, training, and mobilization to strengthen autonomy and social inclusion of beneficiaries.
